hello. =]

first of all:

 go check out a random deviant.!

today i started at my new art school.
it's called ex'pression college for digital art.
i'm pretty excited.

lately i've been noticing a real up-swing in my habitual artistic practices. i've been carrying my sketch books around a lot more frequently and actually gaining a lot of ground [skill wise] because of it... well in my opinion at least. =]

anyhow. i hope you all are doing well.
keep up all the good work you all make.
i love all of it.

I need to start carrying around my lil sketch book again where ever I go... Lately I've just been drawin in it when I'm really depressed.. so theres lots of... well.. depressing things in it.. haha. I'll have to post up some of my latest work. I need to start drawing happy again. LOL.. but thats probably not going to be interesting to look at. Why is it that... depression and sadness tends to bring out my artistic ability much more? Does that happen for u?

i honestly can't draw well when i'm sad/mad. it's terrible. however my sketches when i'm in that state tend to lead to some awesome ideas. overall though, i draw much better if i'm in a good mood. hopefully you can keep your creative juices flowing even though you're super happy and draw something awesome. irony is a fun way to do that... irony leads to great jokes which can turn into great ideas. i don't know. anyways, thanks for the awesome comment.

i'll be studying mostly motion graphic design. so i guess i'll be getting into a lot of crazy stuff like implementing graphics into music videos, movie titles, trailers, etc. so that should be fun. i'll also still be doing art as a job, but keeping my traditional art as a passionate hobby. i'm pretty happy about that. the storyboard thing would be great. i'm actually working on making a short film at school right now, and i'll be the one doing the storyboards... so i need to start doing quick sketches of people and whatnot... i haven't had much practice with doing quick people sketches. i'm also really getting into doing tattoo design. i'm going to start one tonight for a friend that's actually in my group for making that movie, he wants a hummingbird on either side of his chest... but they'll be tattered and silhouette... esque. haha. should be awesome. i'm excited to get started after i finish a paper real soon.

sorry for the novel.
hope all is well.

wow. That sounds amazing! :-D I wish I could have classes like that and stuff. Right now.. I'm in the process of moving to NY. My husband is in the Military... and Well I moved with him to North Carolina. (I used to live in California... L.A....::sigh:: I MISS HOME)... anyways.. so I'm at this school out here that doesn't offer much, so I'm getting all my art historys outa the way and all the intro classes.. Like intro to drawin and sculpture and all that stuff that I'm required to have.. blah blah blah... I'm afraid that once I get to NY, that we won't be able to afford me to go to school anymore.. and I'm really bummed... becuase there are some really good art schools in NY... But I'm excited to move, cause there is absolutely NOTHING TO DO out here in stupid Fayetteville NC... blah blah balh... (sorry im going on and on... )

I was working on a story board of my own a while ago.. but I've kinda forgotten about it.. I should really start up on it again.. I was inspired by this really cool Trance song I heard ... so I'm basically drawing a scene that poped in my head when I listened to the song... Its a long song, so I have lots of sketching to do... so far I have maybe.. 15 seconds of the song done.. LOL

Well I'm going on and on.. :giggle:Its just nice to talk with another art student! :-D I hope yor day is going well. Where do you live?

yeah. school's working out great. today we got a lesson from one of the best ever low-budget film makers: robert rodriguez. el mariachi, the film that made him, cost $7000. mostly on film. amazing. not that i even want to be a filmmaker, but that's incredible. he did what he had to. i love that.

anywho. your life sounds hectic. moving and all that. however, i must ask [and i'm fairly sure the answer will be "love".] why would you EVER move from LA to North Carolina.?! i live in northern california right now... but i moved only two months ago from southern california. i used to live about twenty minutes south of malibu... about thirty minutes from downtown la. goodness gracious how i miss it. i'm a five hour drive away though... i'm sad for you to have to move so far from here. i love it. while i might consider living temporarily in other parts of the country or even europe i'd never leave home for good. i love california far too much.

i started on the storyboard for the movie we're making at school, but i don't think that i'm taking it seriously enough. just scribbling around. have you ever seen shawn of the dead.? i love the film, but in the extra features it tells about what happened to certain characters at the end, and it's told in storyboards. the animation is amazing. considering i've NEVER EVER taken an animation class i don't mind that i'm not that good at doing it quickly, but i wish i were better more immediately. oh well. practice is always a cool part of the development. :D

word. hope your week's going well. it is definitely nice to talk to a fellow art student. you're pretty darn swell to talk to ma'am.!

well, believe me.. moving to stupid North Carolina was not by choice.. My husband is in the Army... and well... when we were just dating, I was still in Cali, and he was over here in NC.. (we started dating before he joined. We both lived in southern Cali.. I'm from Simi Valley. He lived in Northridge. Heard of either place?) But after we got married, I had to move out here with him, cause, eh.. i guess i just wanted to be around him all the time.. Haha... We have lived out here together for a year and I'm so so ready to get outa here.. I just can't wait for the day when he's outa the army and we get to move back home. I really miss my old friends and family. Why did you move to Northern Cali?

Shawn of the dead... I don't believe I have seen it.. But now i'm interesting in that story board scene in the special features you were talking about. I think what I might start to do for practice is get a short story and try to create a story board for it. I'm sure as soon as were settled from the move, I'll start working harder on my work again.

Well my week is going pretty good so far.. Fridays my birthday. I'll be 23... HOLY CRAP I'm gettin old!! hehe.. I have a big test in my one art history class today. We need to know 53 slides. The title and the artist. European art from 1600-1800. Its interesting... just lots to remember. I think i'll do alright.

Well I don't wanna take to much of your time. :fart: <----- hehe.. funny... I enjoy our little chats! :-D
